Why You're Not Making $10K Months Yet (Hint: It's Not Your Strategy)

I remember when a $10,000 month felt like the be-all, end-all. I was a teacher in Canada, paying the taxes, the pension, and the benefits, and taking home very little at the end of it. When I went out on my own in 2016, I wanted that elusive big 10K month so badly. It didn't come right away. My first $10K month landed in June of 2020, four years later. Not because it had to take that long, but because for most of those years I didn't even know it was possible for me. Once I saw other people doing it, everything changed. I believe so deeply in the law of oneness: what's available for them is available for me. And what's available for me is available for you.

Three questions to answer before anything else

Before we get into the meat and potatoes, I want you to sit with three questions. Really answer them. Don't skim.

First: if your business has been stuck at the same income level for the last few months, do you honestly believe it's a strategy problem or a you problem? And can you tell the difference?

Second: what would you have to believe about yourself, about the work you do in this world, to earn an extra $10K next month? And what's the story you're currently telling yourself that makes that feel impossible?

Third: who do you become when the money lands? When you look at that $10,000 sitting in your account at the end of the month, is there any part of her that scares you? I've coached so many women who are quietly afraid of out-earning their spouse, their parents, their friends. Afraid of being "too much," of looking materialistic, of being the one in the friend group who admits she wants more. If any part of you is unsure of that version of you, she'll keep her at arm's length.

The pattern I see everywhere (and I say this with love)

Here's what happens instead of the real work, and it drives me nuts. Not the person, the pattern. Someone hears me talk about mindset, about energetics, about spending time every single day with your beliefs about money... and it goes in one ear and out the other. Then they go into execution mode. They make another post. They tweak the funnel again. They build a new system, create another AI bot, polish something that didn't need polishing. They tell themselves this will be the thing that gets them to $10K months.

It won't be. Because the belief still isn't there.

I've worked with incredible mentors over the years, and every single one of the seven-figure earners believes the same thing: the self-work comes first. Mindset first. This isn't a concept I made up, and it isn't one that works for some people and not others. Inside Aligned CEO Method, we call ourselves a mindset-first methodology company for exactly this reason. The strategy is the easy part. The recipes are all there when you want them. But strategy layered over scarcity just gives you a well-organized plateau.

Earlier this year I ran a breakout session where a group of us set one intention: generate an extra $10K in April, working purely with energetics. Frequency, focus, belief. No new funnels. By early May the messages started rolling in. A tax return that hadn't shown up in ten years. An unexpected inheritance. Clients re-signing out of nowhere. "I can't believe it. I didn't have a $10K month in January, February, or March, and it just happened." I'm like... obviously. That's how this works.

It's a trick question, by the way

When I asked whether it's a strategy problem or a you problem, that was a trick question. It's a you problem. It's a me problem. It's never a strategy problem. The strategy reveals itself when you're so in tune with who you are that the ideas come through with ease. You know those businesses that look seamless from the outside? First of all, they're not. But they feel that way because those women are getting the downloads, the clear ideas, the aligned moves, because they take time to be with themselves. The women who skip that are drowning in everyone else's noise, and that confusion is felt by the people they want to work with. People trust people who trust themselves.

And money? Money has a frequency too. If you're calling it in from grip and need, saying "I need this sale, I have bills, it better happen today," money feels about you the way you'd feel about anyone with that energy. It keeps its distance. If you want money to feel abundant and flowing, you go first. You set the tone.

Who you're being beats what you're doing

Here's the sentence I want tattooed on this whole post: who you are being is so much more powerful than what you are doing. Recently I watched my friend Christina announce a mastermind day on a yacht. One Instagram story, $1,000, twenty spots. I didn't know the agenda. I didn't know who else was going. I booked my flight anyway. Her excitement and certainty were so magnetic that the details didn't matter. It sold out almost immediately, and I'd bet every woman on that boat said yes for the same reason I did: not what she was selling, but who she was being while she sold it.

So: are you excited about what you sell? Do you trust yourself? Are you spending time every single day, the same way you brush your teeth, on your beliefs, your frequency, your vision? Make the mind movie. Script. Journal. Get out in nature. You don't need to do all of it, but you need to do something, daily, that raises your worth and your confidence. The debt pays itself off, the clients show up, and the $10K month arrives when the woman receiving it already exists.

That's the work. And it's the most fun work there is.
